Sweatin' Like Nixon has raised the bar in their own genre of
progressive rock in live performance and studio recordings. Every
twist and turn is refreshingly unexpected. There is no "cookie-cutter" pop song anywhere in the Sweatin' Like Nixon
catalogue. Influences as varied as Frank Zappa and John Coltrane,
from King Crimson to ODB, Nixon create a sound which is complex,
improvisational, funky and sometimes inexplicably humorous. No stone is left unturned for SLN by playing collectively
over 850 live shows and releasing 4 full length recordings. This
band has accomplished followings in countless markets and sold
their music though out the U.S. , Europe and Asia.
Although each individual member of Sweatin' Like Nixon's
musical prowess is impressive, the focus has been on the
songwriting. SLN's first release "Fishing in Political Sewers"
displays a younger Nixon's collective synergy, flowing
effortlessly through style and rhythm changes that only more
experienced songwriters could dream of. Nixon's second release "Tunes For The Young People To Enjoy" garnered a downpour of new
fans, positive press and awards for the SLN'ers, propelling them
in to a shared spotlight with an endless line-up of regional and
national acts. These live performances are where they have managed
to etch their distinctive signature boldly over an expanse of
contrasting genres.
In 2005, SLN signed a record deal with Bendikson Productions
out of Denver, Colorado, and released their third record which is
self titled, "Sweatin' Like Nixon". This record along with
countless performances has led SLN to be nominated 7 times by the
Buffalo Music Awards and awarded Best Original Band, nominated for
the Buffalo People's Choice Awards, nominated Jam Band of the Year
by WBNY 91.3FM, and signed with ProgRock Records.
This 2010-2011, Sweatin' Like Nixon will release their 4th
full length record that was recorded in a day and half. This new
record entitled "Examining The Rubicon" was recorded live in
studio and will no doubt take Nixon to new markets with an
evolving sound and musicianship that's rare. This and other
recordings by SLN can be found on I-tunes and
sweatinlikenixon.com.
